{ Recap } July Edition

It's August! AKA my birthday month! AKA you're allowed to party hard all month long and use this as an excuse. You're welcome.

July has been the single worst reading month of my life. I don't even think I'm exaggerating here. I feel, like, I've finished a total of 4, maaaybe 5 books, if I'm optimistic.

I am never optimistic.

The reasoning behind this is: I got a job! Yes, Mith got a job! It happened nearly halfway into July and since then, it's been getting up at 8 and dealing with people. It's awful and and I'm tired and I literally never have time to do what I want. Which is read at night until 3 AM and use twitter in other instances and binge-watch whatever dumb show has my interest.

On a side note, though, it is weirdly satisfying buying your own stuff with your own money. It just makes me feel... proud? Happy? Like this is cash I earned myself, and yeah, most of it will be going towards other stuff, but I did that.

I also went to my first book event in a long time! I got to meet Alexandra Bracken and take pictures with her and got books signed and it was so surreal. She's so pretty and so sweet! It was a blast.

And... most importantly, I got my brows done! I feel like a human being again!

I almost forgot: I went to Six Flags this month! Wow, guys, this was the most fun I've had in such a long time. I got to spend the entire day with my best friend and we went on so many rides and had great food and listened to Panic! at the Disco on the way back and felt all nostalgic.

All in all... it's been an okay month. I see the rest of my year, should I still be working, going like this. Which is sad because that means maybe like one book read the entire month.

the reads

Like I said, I didn't read much this month. Part of me is super upset, but another, smaller part of me is okay because hey. At least I finished my goal for the year.

Alas. I can say goodbye to reading 15+—hell, 10—books a month. {cue tinny violin music}

Frostbite by Richelle Mead ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ }
Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan ♫ ♫ ♫  }

Keeper of the Bees by Meg Kassel ♫ ♫ ♫  }
Splendor and Spark by Mary Tarant♫ ♫ ♫ ♫  }

A measly four books. Sigh. Given the circumstances, that isn't bad, but I also know I could have done more, I just. I didn't! I'm still in the middle of three other books I started in July that I haven't yet finished. So. Yeah.

other posts

I doubt anything super exciting was on the blog in July. I felt like I really neglected BB this past month. In any case, here's what you may have missed!

♩ REVIEW: Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
♩ REVIEW: Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan
♩ REVIEW: Grim Lovelies by Megan Shepherd [ARC]
 COVER REVEAL: Seventh Born by Monica Sanz

Whew. I mean, I tried, but this month was kinda dead. Oh well! I hope to get better with my priorities now that I have actual responsibilities.

resolution update

In case you don't know what this is, here's the basic essentials.

Every month, my goal is to read at least one (1) backlist bookone (1) physical book; and one (1) monthly release. These do not include rereads. (I'm beginning to think it should because I'm eyeing Warcross again.)

{ backlist }

I did not meet this requirement this month!

I did not meet this requirement this month!

recent happenings

I've decided that this section will be a little look into my personal life and what I was up to, other than reading, during the past month.

{ music }

I've been listening to the same 5 songs on repeat.

Guys, I am desperate. I need new music, and fast. I heard two songs at Taco Bell and I never got the names of them and it is upsetting. I just want to lose myself in a new artist, is that so hard?

However, twenty one pilots did release two new songs and I am really beginning to like Nico and the Niners. I'm excited for their album!

{ netflix / tv }

Again, nothing new. I'm on season 4 of Bones, began Person of Interest again—yay for no longer being traumatised! But also wow, I missed this show. It's so good!

{ life }

Y'all got the basics already.

I got some new clothes—ugh, work related, sadly—and shoes! There was a lot of fries this month too, which... is kinda bad health wise, but I deserve this.

Uhhhhh. I've learned to make coffee (yikes) and tea (also yikes) and I doubt they're good but they're being done. I've also asked the boy I find cute at work his name so go me! I still get to see my friends on the ocassion and that's honestly the best perk about summer since everything else is awful.

new covers

Not a lot in July, I think! I don't remember many huge reveals but here's what caught my eye:

And if you want to view more reveals, here is my

Yaaaaay, another month done! How was your July? Did you read anything interesting? What books are you looking forward to in August?
